Shifts into first and second fine but will not shift into third gear, it just acts like it goes into neutral. I put one quart of transmission fluid in it and replaced the fuse. I also tried to manually shift it but when I put it in four wheel drive it worked good shifted good for three minutes after that I had the same problem. 4l60e transmission.

Good morning.

Fuse? There is no fuse for third gear. Was the fuse burned that you replaced?

Does it go up to fourth gear?

No it does not and it is the ing0 fuse that controls the 3/4 clutch pack solenoid.

Okay, that fuse controls all solenoids. If that was the issue it would not have shifted from first to second either as the solenoid has to work for the shift.

Does it go into fourth?

It could be the solenoid but needs to be checked. Do you have a scan tool that can read live data with the transmission to see if there is a command to the solenoid?

Okay, another thought. The TPS sensor on the throttle body controls the shift points. It could be an issue if the voltage readings are wrong.

Do you have anything that you can read live data?

No I do not. I did just re-spliced my wires on the TPS though.

Yes, it did not do any of this other than put it into limp mode for TPS voltage reading bad.

Okay, did you replace the TPS?

Also, did you solder and shrink wrap the wires? Very important that butt connectors not be used.

Those are butt connectors.

Did you replace the TPS sensor itself?

Okay, I would start back at the connector. Start by soldering and shrink wrapping the connections.

Is the check engine light on? If so, what are the codes?

What was the code number? Then your code reader cannot read it. You will need a parts store to read it for you. That is our clue to whats going on.

Voltage drop. They never make a good connection so the voltage even being off.1 volt will affect the results.
