Hello all,

Can anyone shed some light on code C1611? (ODB2 screenshot attached)
Apparently this can indicate a bad ECM or bad connection?
But - there is no dashboard engine light on.

A few days after scanning the car diagnostics, my engine was idling very rough during a cold engine start. It drove just fine, and was working normally once at operating temperature.

Note: I installed new OEM recommended spark plugs about 2 months ago and 3,000 km (1,900 miles) ago.

Hello,

This DTC has three different vehicle problems rolled into one. In the diagrams down below I have included the diagnostic troubleshooting guides for the brakes and steering portions of this DTC. There is no information available for the Tire Pressure Monitoring portion of the DTC. Please go through these guides and get back to us with what you find out.

Thanks,
Alex

Thanks Alex,

This will take me some time to figure out. Electrical problems are not my strength.

Do you think it would be wise to unhook the battery to reset the ECM, clear the codes and see if they reappear after the reset? I'm waiting on delivery of electrical cleaner before I inspect and clean the ECM/ESC/EPS/ connectors.

Hello again,

If you would like you can do this, but the DTC's will just come back until the problem is fixed. I'm not sure if this is a one trip or 2 trip DTC, but that is how they set, either after one or sometimes two drive cycles, depending on which type the DTC is. Please keep us informed, and please, if you have any other questions, don't hesitate to ask.

Thanks,
Alex

Alex,

These two codes have to do with the ABS/ESC, and power steering. Could this have anything to do with the engine running very rough at idle? I don't understand why ABS/ESC and power steering would cause this rough idle symptom.

Good morning,

The simple answer is no, it will not contribute to the engine running rough. That is a separate issue on its own.

If you would like us to address that, you will need to start a new question at the beginning. By site rules, we can only address one issue at a time in a question.
