Honestly, the first thing I would check is fuel pressure. I say that because if it is weak, we will know. On the other hand, if it is too high, then it is likely a regulator issue which can cause what you described.

This vehicle doesn't have a traditional fuel pressure regulator. In its place is a fuel pressure sensor. Basically, based on the pressure, the fuel pressure control module limits power to the pump to slow it down and produce less pressure as needed.
What I suggest is having the pressure tested first. Let me know the results. The pressure switch is much easier to replace.
