On cold mornings 0 to 20 degrees F there is a high pitched noise that comes from the engine upon starting. This noise lasts from 30 seconds to 1 minute. It will not make that noise for the rest of the day no matter how long the engine is not running.

In those temps. Many things can happen. It could be the added load on the alternator or various other things. Since the vehicle is under factory warranty, I strongly recommend taking it to a dealer so they can hear it.

That isn't encouraging. LOL What I would suggest is to have a helper start the car in the AM and see if you can get an idea of aprox where the sound is coming from under the hood. My guess is the alt is under a heavy load since the batter is weakened by the extreme cold. See if it seems like that is where the noise is coming from.
