Oil light staying on all the time a bit of a funny noise from engine, oil fine and no leaking, if I had filter done would this make a difference as I dont know if this has been done or had a service.

The oil light is on and you're still driving the truck? That light means stop the engine immediately and coast to the side of the road. Major engine damage can occur within a few seconds with no oil pressure.

It is possible the oil pressure sending unit is simply defective, but until you know that, you're risking destroying the engine. Your mechanic will connect a mechanical oil pressure gauge to see what the actual pressure is. If it is okay, he will replace the sending unit. If the pressure really is low, he will have to figure out why and correct that.
