2012 Dodge Durango Driving problem

My truck will only go forward at 10/15 mph before it makes a loud wheezing noise, when I accelerate, and there's no acceleration when that happens. After applying the brakes, when I try to accelerate it hours no where, and I habe to shut the engine off and restart it in order to drive/reverse. What is the problem?

it sounds like your transmission has an issue. from your description it sounds like the torque converter has failed. I would at least take it to a shop and have them road test the truck
