When in 4x4 mode the tires start to spin the power drops off and the gas pedal goes to the floor. If I let off and wait it will respond. Is this normal? There is also a beeping that occurs when the car slides to one side, can this be turned off?. Thanks

That is from the traction control system. If the computer senses that a tire is spinning, it will automatically reduce the power from the engine to stop the tire from spinning. Some cars have the option to turn off the traction control system. Check to see if you can do it with your car. It should be in the owner's manual.
