Are there any detailed printed instructions regarding replacing the high beam bulbs in the car listed above? A lot of information is available regarding replacing the low beam headlights, however, almost nothing is available to provide guidance in replacing the high beam bulbs. They are very difficult to gain access to on the right and left side.

Hi,

Actually, they aren't very hard to replace. The high beam bulb is replaced the same as the low beam but at a different location. I've had them that require the removal of the bumper cover, grill, and the list goes on. LOL

If you open the hood and locate the rear of the headlamp assembly (behind the failed bulb) there will be a round rubber cover that you will see. Remove it by simply pulling it on, turn the bulb/connector a quarter turn counterclockwise, pull the bulb out, and reinstall.

The only thing you may need to do is to remove the air intake tube between the air filter box and the throttle body for the left side or the windshield washer reservoir for the right. Note that the low beam is more involved on the right, but the high beam is straight forward.

Take a look at the directions below. Let me know if this helps or if you have other questions.

Take care,

joe

See pics below which include both low and high beam replacement. Note: The directions I included are for the right side (passenger side). The left side is the same other than there is no windshield washer reservoir. Instead, you may need to remove the air inlet tube.

Thank you very much for the quick reply. Regarding the high beam bulbs, are there any special retaining ring required to lock the bulb in place? I tried in vain to replace the bulb, and I cannot get it to lock in the socket.

Hi,

Remove the new bulb. There is a gasket at the end that pushes into the lamp assembly. I suspect that the gasket is still in there from the old lamp. You won't be able to seat it if it is still in there. See pic below

Let me know.

Joe
