My car's side and back side windows will not defrost, but the front and back window will. Also my car wont heat up until I actually pull off, no matter how long it runs before, and I sometimes have a funny smell coming from the vents. I also have noticed the temp gage move to the middle line, but stays and doesn't run hotter.

check to see if air is coming from side of dash for windows it may not be so it's blocked. Check coolant level then have pressure checked for internal leaks. the smell may be antifreeze or oil hitting a manifold. have the rear window checked to see if there is a break in the defrost lines. autop parts sell a bottle that cn fix any breaks.
