My car's remote does not work even with a new battery. It switches on, but it does not release the locks. How do I check that? My spare remote works normally. How do I reprogram my fob?

This is how to program the remote:

[1] Turn ignition to the "on" position.

[2] Hold reset button [white dot one on the switch cluster ] in on the dash and keep it depressed.

[3] Turn ignition to "off" and remove the key. [Still holding in that button]

[4] Reinsert key and turn ignition to on. [Still holding in that button ]

[5] Now release the reset button on the dash.

[6] Press either the lock or unlock button on the fob while its still in the ignition lock.

[7]You will hear a Beep and the red immobilizer LED light flashes and the doors will lock.

[8] Now with the second key fob press a button and [beep/flash/doors lock.

[9] Switch ignition to off.

Please let us know if you need anything else to get the problem fixed.

There is plenty even I do not know. Proton does not really share information with the buyers of their cars. If your looking for a workshop manual then you can get one here.

http://e-bookmanual.com/productsproton.html

Not long released for the gen2 and savvy.

At least you have more information than me. It is true Proton does not share their information. I am from where the car is manufactured and I am still having problems getting information.

Thanks again.

I have a Proton Wira Aeroback 2001 - 4G15 engine and both of my original remotes are not working.

1. If I buy an aftermarket key less entry system, would it be possible to program those remotes to use with the security system I already have in my car? If so, please let me know how to program them?

2. If I get uncut Waja keys, which has the remote option included, how do I program them to use with the security system I already have in my car?

Is this the later Persona [Gen2 with a boot ] or earlier persona like the Wira. If it is the later Persona then there could be a problem with the door lock solenoids, these were prone to sticking Also check the keys for programming they are also prone to loosing their programming.

Persona Fen2 with boot. Where the solenoid located? It is placed at the driver door?
How could the programming be lost? Short circuit? Is it expensive to reprogram?

You will have to remove the door card the solenoid should be located at the lock. The keys are poor quality and the electronics in the key are low grade. Proton must have bought one million of the for ten cents from china. In other words junk. The Savvy and Satria Seo had the same problem with the keys. My youngest boy now opens his with the key instead of pressing the button. He has had to reprogram the keys so many times he has now given up.

Try this

[1] Turn ignition to on position

[2] Hold reset button [white dot one on the switch cluster ] in on the dash and keep it depressed.

[3] Turn ignition to off and remove the key. [Still holding in that button]

[4] Reinsert key and turn ignition to on. [Still holding in that button ]

[5] Now release the reset button on the dash.

[6] Press either the lock or unlock button on the fob while its still in the ign lock.

[7]You will hear a Beep and the red immobilizer LED light flashes and the doors will lock.

[8] Now with the second key fob press a button and [beep/flash/doors lock.

[9] Switch ignition to off.

Make sure the batteries in the keys are good and one key must work so the other key will reprogram. If none of the keys will open the doors when you press the button on the key then you cannot reprogram the other, one key must be working.

There is a small chip within the key casing. If lost/removed, the steering lock couldn't be deactivated. May I know what is it since it stands alone without power supply. I had experience twice when the casing split open dropping it to the floor. Is it preprogram?

Hi Captain Proton

My Proton Savvy 07 remote was getting progressively more difficult to use to unlock the car/turn alarm off and today it completely stopped working. Therefore I changed the battery- still didn't work and then followed your steps to reset the remote. The problem is however that I only have one key/remote. I did get the "beep" after following your instructions on the remove but it still doesn't work. Any suggestions?

Thanks

Rob

You will need 2 keys to reprogram the one that has lost its programming so that will be why this is not working.I've not been on the proton front now for some time and dont even know if you can get a new key from proton. If your in the UK try maple garages up north that will be your best bet unless you still have a dealer in your area.

If both have lost their program and you have just purchased the car I would take it back to where you bought it from. This might need dealer diagnostic software to reset the programming in the keys. Good luck with that.

I got a big headache with my proton.

1. I was going on a long journey and the feel lights was on. Came home and pack no problems. However, I started the car and it failed. Took a gallon and put fuel in and it works.

2. On my way to work, the car started loosing power and stopped right on the motorway. I stopped, turned the ignition off, waited for few minutes and tried again and it works fine.

3. A week after, I was driving locally and it stopped and never switched on again. I took it to a local mechanical workshop and he had it for almost 2 years. Falled in love with this car so much, I asked him to check it for me. I reckoned is the fuel pump. He cleaned it and mount full service on it and MOT test and it passed.

4. Went for a long drive with it and had no issues with it till on my way back when England was having its first snow in years and the same problem occurred on the motorway. I counted myself luck because it was about 02:00 in the morning and the snow was topping very bad. Stopped for at least 6 times on the motorway using the off for few minutes and back on.

5. Came on and it stopped completely. A friend on my popped around today and dashed me a new battery and the car started. However, after moving few meters, I loose power again.

Diagnosis:
The car will drive and the break peddle will become stiff and wheels will start getting stiffer and eventually stop the car.

The electric system on the car is fucked cuz the alarm misbehave occasionally, same with the remote.

Captain: The floor is yours.

It's proton Gen 2 1.6 petrol 2008 and it's 87k mileage.

Love this car so much but couldn't get it running

You say a mechanic changed the fuel pump but did he check the fuel filter given the mileage you have done its well over due. You may have a blockage in the filter causing fuel starvation. Issue with the brakes could be a few things. Caliper pistons sticking is one and break pads gummed up and not moving under brake pressure.I suggest you get the braking system checked over. Electronics have always been a bad point on the Gen2 contact an auto electrician to check out the alarm and maybe remove it from the system completely. I nearly bought another Gen2 late last year. Glad I bought a hyundai ix20 instead. Getting a bit old now at 70 to crawl under cars.

I hope someone can help me with this, I just bought a proton gen 2 cheap infact it was a bargain price. I now know why.

The central locking does not work, the immobiliser does not lock the wheel when turned off. The alarm reset button does not flash, the open door light on dash flickers on and off with a loose wire. I hoping someone could point me in the right direction to get it all working. I've tried the reset button but I get no response at all no beep noise no flashing no nothing. Apart from that the car drives faultless.

Kind regards
Matt

You did not provide any information of your vehicle, year, transmission type etc. Is it keyless system?
The door ajar indicator flashing while driving is usually a fault with one of the door or hood switch. The hood or one of the doors could be out of adjustment resulting in the switch turning on/off when vehicle is in motion.
Have the fuses checked, a bad fuse could be the cause of the central locking and security system malfunctioning.
