Last week the car started spitting and spuddering and slowly came to a stop and wouldn't start again. Ford house said the fuel pump was bad. $700 and 3 days later it did the same thing again. Now they said that they found the wire that goes to the inertia switch unplugged. I asked how that happened and they said that I must have unplugged it. REALLY! ME? How about your tech unplugged it and didn't plug it back in all the way back in. This time it only cost me $241. My question is: Would the tech unplug the inertia switch to install a fuel pump? And can I unplug the wire and still be able to drive over a mile before dying?

The answer is you do not need to unplug the switch or I can think of no reason to unplug it to do fuel pump and no if the switch trips or comes unplugged then the car would shut off at that time you would not be able to drive it. One of the wires is power from the fuse the other is power to the pump so if one is out the car will not run.
