I have a 2003 Ford explorer sport trac XLS. When I start it it sputters. Then when it is on a minute it will go but the problem seems to be getting worse. Took it to auto shop, they changed oil. Thought it might be moisture in the gas. I added heat to the tank. Did not take care of it. I am now down to a quarter tank, worried that this could be more serious?

So problem only happens first couple of minutes and at no other time?

I'd look to see if fuel pump is losing prime or the intake gaskets are leaking. Both common issues on that motor.

Another thing may be a dirty throttle body causing less air than normal to come thru

Check fuel pressure and fuel pressure drop off when the key is shut. Directions are on our homepage under the DIY section.
