While getting my air condition recharged at Meineke, I was advised that my car needed a new compressor which was the reason for my car not blowing cold air. Got car recharged and said no to a new compressor.
While driving at over 40mph car blows out cold air, but when at idle or driving around 25mph, car will still blow warm air. I am planning on driving to cape cod in a few weeks (10 hour drive). Will this long drive and heavy bumper to bumper traffic while running A/C cause damage to the compressor. Can the compressor on a long drive in bumper to bumper traffic cause overheating?

The compressor needs to be replaced already so I don't think it matters at that point but no, it shouldn't become more damage. Its just going to keep acting up and not engage so it might not even be running while going less than 40 mph. As to overheating, the A/C does put a big load of any vehicle, the computer calculates that in and takes the proper steps to prevent overheating such as kicking on the secondary fan.
