Hard starting

It now takes four to six seconds of cranking the engine before it starts. It starts every time but I am afraid it won't start one of these times. On a separate matter the warning alarms beeps sometimes when I turn off the engine. It is only supposed to do this when I leave the keys in the ignition and open the door. I then have to restart the car and turn it off again to make it stop.

As far as the hard start, you need to check the fuel pump pressure drop off. That is the point that you shut the key and the pump turns off. It sounds like the pump is losing its prime and then as a result, it is taking a few seconds to rebuild pressure so the engine starts. If you need directions, visit our home page under the DIY section. There you will find directions and a video that explain how to check pressure and drop off.

Let me know what you find.
