Auto mode - sensor drive gearbox will not engage a gear, display a "auto" light flashing with a snowflake. This seems to be a common problem with Citroen sensor drive. I've tried the sensor drive reset procedure describe by Citroen but no luck to get the car to engage in a gear. Very dangerous when in traffic and you loose gears just like that. I have lost my faith in Citroen.

This car has a digital Air Con system.
It is the 1.4HDi Exclusive.

Although the display shows the blower is on the motor does not start.

I have removed the digital rheostat and shorted across the the live points of the power transistor and the motor runs.

I have removed the power transistor to test it but I am unable to find any specs for it. I am not sure if it is blown or not.
Does anyone know of a replacement for this transistor?
Or any other idea's maybe its not blown but the fault lies elsewhere.
Regards John

Hi Guy's
I finally sorted it by process of elimination
The Power Transistor is an N Channel Mosfet.
I replaced it with a IRFZ48NPBF RS part number 540-9957 cost about  1.50 this one is able to switch 62amps instantainious so should be well up to the job

I hope this will be of use to others.
John

I tried unlocking my car with the keyfob it wouldnt work. So I opened it with the key the alarm went off and a button saying off just below the stereo wont stop flashing. The car wont start now and to top it all I have just discovered that the key will only lock the drivers side door not the whole car.

@johnsiddle

Hi,
I have the exact same car (only from 2002) and the exact same problem :-)

Where is this "fan speed controller" located? I also want to replace the MOSFET.

Thanks,
Muris

In most vehicles of any year you have to have the Electronic Remote Keyfob to reset the alarm system once it has gone off. You can try to dis-connect the battery, wait one minute and re-connect. However, you need the code for your radio or it will not work. Your car may not need one, but since the Security sytem was tripped if it does it will be needed. If you bought the car new they would have given it to you. When you re-connect the battery, the radio will display, "Code" or, "Enter Code". You will have to talk to a dealership about resetting and retrieving the code if you do not have it as it requires a special tool.
To get the key fob to woek, hpefully it only needs a new key. You hjave to carefully pry it apart to replace battery. It is almost worth going to a dealership for this as well becasue if there is a way to do it withotu needing to have it re-programmed, they will know. Sometimes replacing the battery, and if the keyfob needs replacement you will have to, requires that the keyfob require a flash re-programming. This is very expensive.
So, I would go to a dealer and go to the parts Department and ask if they know how to replace it and if it will require re-programming. I say the parts department becasue you may find someone nice enough to take it apart for you if they know how and if you go straight to service, you will probaably get charged.

Well done john, I admire when someone manages to find a simple cheap fix for something that otherwise would have cost an arm and a leg, and probably not as good.
I too have problem with C3 heater which you resolved, can you please tell me where the transistor to be replaced is located.
I am in UK, but do not think C3 will be any different over here.

Thanks

Citroen C3 1.4HDi 2003; My car battery keeps dying and i'm not sure why? Do you think investing in a new battery is the best answer? Also when i'm driving, the car sometimes cuts out when i'm changing down gears, I can restore it by bringing out the clutch but sometimes the power steering becomes heavy and it can be quite annoying? Please help me.

I've already tried charging the battery, but if I leave the car not running for a couple of days, it dies again and needs charging.

The anti theft system seems to be the fault. Sounds like it is not reading the key correctly. Have the car's computer read for faults?

Mine is actually a MPV, Citroen Evasion. Was parked over 12 hrs at sisters house. When I wanted to go home, it refuse to start. Normally starts at first crank. Tried again an hour later, still cudnt start. Borrowed my sisters car. Next evening it started at first crank. Off it and try again couple of times, ok good. Later went home with it and left at home. 2 days later when I want to use it, the problem recur, cranks but cannot start. It has been 4 days since but it still refuses to start, though I try two times everyday.I now drive my wifes car, hoping it will naturally start again as I live far away in yhe countryside.

This sounds like a fault on the immoboliser. You ned to have vehicle's computer read by a mechanic with suitable diagnostic software.
