It opens and closes the car but will not start the engine. What is my cheapest option?

I have a Citroen C3 1.4 Petrol 2005 model. Started it this morning. It was running for a few minutes but suddenly lost power and did not want to idle.
The car switched off. I tried starting it again, the engine swings but it does not want to start. I replaced the spark plus, the air filter, the petrol filter as well as the oil filter. Still nothing. Is this an electrical problem or the petrol pump. What could this be?

Run a diagnostic scan if you can and check any unresolved fault codes, undo the fuel filter place in container and turn on the ignition, any fuel flow?

Hi,

I have a Citroen C3 Auto and recently it has given me a lot trouble. I see no warning lights flashing nothing seems to be wrong with the car but at times it won't start. This problem accurse when I drive the car for some time. It happens to me in the filling station where after refuelling I was not able to start the car. One turning the key it gives a little ignition sound but won’t start. I have checked the battery there is nothing wrong with it. What could be the problem? Is it because the car is overheated? But the temp gage has only two or three bars? Could it be the starter issue? What should I do?

Thanks

You may need to inspect for a good spark, check fuel pressure and general tune items, when was the last time you had a full tune up.

Hi all,

My 2003 C3 ticks over but will not start, it broke down on the motorway, the spark plugs are fine and fuel is getting to the fuel rail. It has had a diagnostic test and it did not report any fault codes.

From what I have read on the internet it seems like the I need to remove the injectors and dry them aswell spray some wd40 on them?

Any ideas people are much appreciated.

Best,
Kevin

Start with basics. Have the battery checked if it is ticking.

Check compression, fuel pressure, fuel at the rail is not enough, and spark.

How did you get a diag test without it running?

Engine automatically shutdown when driving. Cannot start after that. Tow to workshop to check using comp but nil defect found using autoland and original software from citreon company. Done all the wire check, all ok.

The only indication I found are '-' in gear position. It don't show 'n' in display. For info I am using amt transmission.

Oh and sorry roy, the battery was fine and the car kept nearly starting bur not quite get there. But I think now I (and mechanics) have been trying it I think the battery might be getting low. But at the time it broke down the guys checked the battery and it was fine.

Look forward to your response reference to whether or not it si worth cleaning and WD40'ing the injectors.

Thank you very much
Kevin

Engine are in good condition. Nothing wrong with the engine. I think the problem start with the gear position. It will not start with indication '-' position. It will start with 'N' position only. I cannot troubleshoot with out wiring diagram. If I have diagram I will try to jump the wire to make the ecu think its in 'N' and conform the motor are unserviceable.

Forget the injectors for now till the basics are nailed down to determine the failure.

Soorry mr dave

i think u don't understand my problem. My car don't have any of that. I have sensodrive, so at gearbox selector only have +, -, N and reverse. So how can I select P when no parking selection. All the basic thing that u mansion to me, I have done. Now I need to check the wiring system to determine what the cause for that problem. I'm also mechanic and I already check all the wire nothing found. The only thing to do now, is to check for the system. ECU already send to workshop for check and the condition are ok. Actuator for clucth also change. The last thing to check are actuator for gear shift. That I need a wiring diagram but I didn't have. If I have have that I can understand the operation of the system and I make some decision how to repair it.

Hi Citroen C3 failed to start, stuck in auto mode. Auto light on daskboard flicker with a line displaying below. Display lights on car just don't want to start. Egine seems not to talk to sensor. ECU could be the problem.

Is the starter engaging? If it is, have you checked to see if there is spark to the plugs and fuel pressure is within the manufacturer's specs? What do you mean by "Auto Mode"?
