My 2006 Volvo S80 will not start. The key turns but does not engage the engine. Could the battery be dead? Everything inside works, radio, interior lights but the headlights do not work. Will a dead or low battery keep the Volvo from starting?

Yes, a weak or dead battery can cause this. Have you tried to jump start it?

As far as the battery, remove it, recharge it and take it to a parts store and have them load test it. Most will do it for free with hopes of selling a new battery.

Let me know what you find.
