Do I have a major electrical problem or is it something that can be repaired with a reasonable price?

Hello All. I bought a 2006 Mazda 6 (3.0L, 6 CYL). Apparently the windshield wasn't sealed properly and water leaked into the car near the fuse box. Afterwards, several electrical components in the car stopped working (power locks, front display, etc.). However, all of the fuses are in tact. I asked an electrician and he said that the Power Control Unit may be the problem. The dealer refused to take responsibility and I'm not sure what to do. I'd be willing to fix it if I could get a better idea of what the problem is and what part it needs. Thanks in advance.

Water entry to the cabin can cause quite a lot of damage and the extent of the damage would depend on what had been affected.

First thing you need to do is to have the leakage repaired, followed by drying out interior and all affected components.

The next thing to do would be to check wire connectors for corrosion, contaminations and damage.

The last thing to do would be to replace components that have been damaged. Cost would vary according to situation.

You're welcomed.

It is best to have the battery disconnected till you are ready to start work. Control units can be dried out and tested first to confirm if they are bad.
