Air conditioner not working

You didn't indicate one problem it might be happening if the AC is turning on and off and that was the original problem. Then it gets hot and cold, then all of a sudden the power steering doesn't work as good and here's a big screech it sounds like some bearing is seizing up intermittently and causing the accessory belt to start slipping and that would create the screaching sound. What do think?

So when you say the low side reads retard do you mean its reading as a vacuum instead of pressure? This is with the compressor off correct?

The retard is meaning too much pressure on the low side. And yes this is when the compressor is off.

When the compressor is off its going to read higher then it should when the a/c on it should 130psi like the high side. Your low side gauge must one of gauges that just reads blue yellow red. My gauge set reads actual pressure of both the high and low side.

It sounds like you have enough pressure to turn the compressor on. Have you checked to see if your getting power ground etc to the compressor when turn the a/c on?

My air conditioner stopped working and I noticed the the cooling fan (the one listed by the passnger side of the engine) does not work when you turn on the air. The A/C blows hot air. Also, I'm not sure if this is related but there is a humming sound when I drive. Could it be the compressor, or could this be two different things.

Lack of cooling fan can lead to a compressor failure. It needs to be checked with a set of pressure gauges by a professional so nothing gets overlooked.

The A/C worked perfect until recently. I have tried to add a re-chill kit and nothing. The compressor and or condenser will not cycle on. Any suggestions?

If the relay does not work it will not turn on compressor so have it scanned for codes it may be some type of control problem.you can either switch relay with another to test or do this to test relay. also, if system was low on Freon it would not start either and I do not know if you have auto or manual A/C if it is auto A/C you have to have it scanned as there are too many sensors that can go bad causing your problem.
