The inside door handle on a rear passenger door does not open the door (but the outside handle does). What is the problem? Is this a DIY repair, should I have a mechanic fix it? If the latter, what is the best choice - dealership, independent, chain? Thank you.

First check on the back of the door to see if the child lock is turned on. If not, or if not equipped with that feature, a linkage from the handle to the latch is probably popped apart. The hard part of that repair is figuring out how to remove the door panel to get to it.
