Check Engine light will not stay off

Took it to a mechanic and they said the light comes on because of an emissions error code. They turned it off 4 times, but it still keeps coming on. Cannot remember the code that it used.

Turning it off never fixes a problem. It needs to be checked out and repaired. Go to another shop that will address your problem, do a proper diag and give a bid to repair the problem.
