Gearbox is going into gears but when I release my foot off the clutch its making a grinding sound I have checked the driveshaft and that is intact and also the gearbox and that is fine, I have been advised that it maybe that there is not enough oil in the the gearbox so its metal on metal and this is whats causing the grinding? Do you have any other options of what it could be I have a 2005 vauxhall vectra c

Is the car still driving or is the grinding happening when it should be in gear?

I am not sure what your problem is exactly, but don't drive it until the transmission is repaired. If the gears are grinding, it will eventually cause major damage. I can't tell you how many people I have seen total their cars by driving them when they shouldn't. Even going down the street could ruin your transmission.
