I have a 2005 Toyota tacoma 2wd prerunner
With the 4.0L v6. I changed my oil yesterday
and everything was working fine. I drove it aprox.
70 miles and my oil pressure light came on
and shortly after the motor started ticking/rattling
pretty loudly. I drove it home and parked it. The
next day I checked the oil and saw it was ab 2 quarts
overfilled. I contacted my local mechanic and was
informed that the FRAM oil filter I had put on the
truck was a bad decision. Since then I've replaced
The filter with a Toyota filter and drained some of the
oil to make it level but the oil pressure light still comes
on and it's still ticking/rattling. I'm leaning more towards
the oil pump or the oil pump pickup. Any advice you
May have would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in
advance

Based on how far you drove it with the noise and light on can have an impact on what is wrong. My first concern is that there is internal damage due to lack of oil pressure. What I suggest is to rent a mechanical oil pressure gauge and check pressure using that. Basically, you remove the oil pressure on the engine and install the one for the mechanical gauge. If the pressure is low, the only thing you can do is assume either the pump is bad, it is plugged, or there is damage done to the engine.
