Behind your glove box area under the dash there is a plastic cover remove it and under it you will find your resistor.

My blower motor resistor keeps going out. I replace it and it runs for a few days and goes out again. The blower works after I replace the resistor but only for a few days. I have been through 4 in the last 2 months. What do I do?

Your blower motor is obviously drawing to much amperage. You will probably have to change blower motors to solve your problem. A restriction in the duct work can cause this problem also, but if the blower is moving enough air, it's the motor.

I have the same problem, so if you find a solution, please let me know. I have replced my resistor, checked fuses, and gone over all relays. No luck. Last resort is to check the switch, but I fail to see that as a problem on 4 of the 5 speeds. BTW, I have no ghorn either. All fuses and relays check good. Maybe related? Go figure. Thanks.

Im not to sure how much different a 99 from 01, but I did just replace mine. Its located just forward of the Blower motor itself. Pop off the kick panel just under passanger dash, then locate the blower moter 3 screms hold it up, remove them to have more access. And remove the vaccum line. Now you should see the resistor, remove both plugs, 1 went to the blower motor. Now remove the screw closet to you, and loosen the the hard to reach forward ones. Slide it forward and out. May take a lil help from a flat head and maybe pliers. Remember this was done on a 99' no sure the diff of a 01'.

2000 Pontiac Grand Prix SE 3.1L, 138000 miles---I have an intermittant electrical problem. At times the automatic headlights (not the daytime running lights) and the heater blower will stop working simultaneously and I can hear a faint clicking under the dash. I can turn the headlights on manually and they work, but the blower still won't run. When they decide to start working, they come back on together. All other electrical systems work fine. Could the blower relay/resistor be causing this problem? Any other ideas?

I searched under the dash and found that when I switch on the fan control, the daytime running light module is clicking. I unplugged the module, cleaned the connections and plugged it back in. Now when the fan is switched off, the automatic headlights are working. With the fan switch in positions 1-4, neither the auto lights, or the fan works; and with the fan switch in pos. 5, both the fan and headlights work. I'm going to replace the blower relay/ resistor and see what happens.

OK. I replaced the blower resistor and relay, but still have the same problem. Auto headlights work with fan switch off, headlights and fan works with swich on high, but neither work with fan switch on 1-4.
Suggestions?

After 2 days I've still not recieved a reply. I did, however, isolate the problem. It really was one of those "who'da thunk it"! (For a refund, I'll be glad to share what I found).

Thanks.
After much searching with a test light and wiring diagram I finally found a common hot wire coming from the ignition switch to the fuse bank the feeds the drl module fuse and the blower fuse. The ignition switch was bad. That one contact was breaking only when a load was applied from the heater motor.
