I had to replace the ignition coil on my 05 Kia Sedona. I took out the part of the ignition where the key goes in, I thought that was where I needed to go.

I replaced the ignition coil but I cannot get the ignition in correctly. If I stick a screwdriver into the hole on turn the internal portion to the on position, the ignition slides right in, but the van acts like the key is always in. When I try to lock the door with the key out, the lock automatically unlocks so I cannot lock my keys in the car.

When I turn the internal portion of the ignition back to the off position, I can only get the ignition in about half way before it stops.

It sounds like your ignition key cylinder is faulty causing the key not to go in completely. If the ignition switch is functioning by using a screwdriver then the ignition cylinder will need to be replaced. This will either come with a matching key or a set of new keys for the cylinder.
