Oil light comes on then several minutes later the brake pedal becomes very rigid and then the jeep doesn't want to move. If I wait 3-4 hours I can start the car again and it may drive fine for a week or so. Took it to several transmission specialists and car did not duplicate the problem after ten test drives. No codes or lights ever was received by the diagnostic services.. Took it to dealership they reset the engine oil light and couldn't find any problems. I paid 110 dollars to change transmission fluid it worked fine for several weeks but now it seems to be doing it on a weekly basis. Took it to local auto parts store to see if the code could be read and they said it wasn't communicating with the brain. Car shifts and drives perfectly until this problem occurs. It's been to 5 local shops but no one can duplicate the symptoms. Please help

Please understand, without a trouble code, this becomes a guessing game. My question is this, when the oil light comes on, do you ever hear knocking or ticking from the engine? Has the oil sending unit been replaced? I am questioning if the computer is trying shut down the engine due to what it thinks is low oil pressure causing a drop in engine vacuum; thus making the brake pedal hard to push and not allowing the engine to rev and go.

It's just a thought at this point. Let me know.

No noise or ticking. I will check or replace the oil sending unit and see if that fixes the problem. I will keep you updated.
