I Purchase a K&N Filter and the installation kit recently for my 2005 ford Mustang 4.0 v6. I am concern that once I disconnect the negative battery cable that the anti theft system may lock up the car in a way the I will no longer turn on or some of the components my not work at all. Should I be concern of all this? I usually place it in storage in the winter months and disconnect the negative cable and in the spring I don't have any problems. However in the K&N instruction it refers to codes that I need to write down in the event the car locks up or radio system not turn

Most installation kits will tell you to disconnect the battery. Most of the time portions of the instructions are generic and they try to cover all vehicle applications. For example a Honda vehicle will lock the OEM radio when the battery is disconnected. As for your Mustang you shouldn't have any problems installing the K&N filter.
