Have the tires inspected at a tire and alignment shop. What you described sounds like the tires skidded and have flat spots, but that's not common with passenger car tires. Those flat spots will wear away after a while.
It's also possible a rusty piece of a brake rotor broke off or a pad is hitting a freshly-exposed rust spot. You'll hear and / or feel that once per wheel revolution and it too will eventually stop on its own. Most of the time no corrective action is needed for that.
