2004 Toyota Corolla abnormal engine noise

Heard a cracking noise for the first time when warming the car but it settled but still check with mechanic who change the fan from automatic to always and said no problem with the engine. But on warming it the next day heard a clicking sound when I raise the engine(press on gas while on neutral) please help!

Try to leave it overnite so mechanic can actually hear the problem otherwise everyone is shooting in the dark
