2004 Suzuki XL7 engine sensor

The battery shifted and shorted out. We took it to a mechanic who fixed the wiring but was getting false sensor signal. Replaced the computer twice. Now just getting a false coolant temperature signal. Replaced sensor and still getting the false signal. The mechanic is throwing his hands up.

If the battery posts shorted, that would remove power from the rest of the electrical system so nothing else would be damaged. Even if something else shorted, that isn't going to affect a sensor circuit.

The first step in diagnosing this is to identify the problem. The coolant temperature sensor circuit is a real simple one with just two wires. Two voltage readings must be compared with what is shown on the scanner. From those reading we can figure out where to go next.
