Car wont go into any gear but drive and wont go over 40mph

My car battery died today and had to jump the car. Now it will not go over 40mph. If it hits 40 it slow down. The car wont go into reverse or any other gear except drive. Also says need to service theft system

It has lost its memory with the battery issue.
The security has to relearn for that issue.

The trans, well, did you have any problems before the battery issue?

No problems at all with anything. Accidently left the key on and killed the battery

Try removing the battery cable and re installing it to re boot the computers and see what happens. If nothing, you may need the computers re flashed.

That is the running software the car needs to function. It is like re formatting your home computer with all the needed programs.
