2004 mercury sable idles low, stalls, ok when driving except stopping and starting, makes noise.

A few things can cause a low idle. Make sure there are no vacuum leaks, if the check engine light is on, have the computer scanned to identify what is causing the light to come on, and have the idle air control valve (IAC) checked. As far as the noise, can you describe what it sounds like or what causes it?
