Oxygen sensor location

Bank 1, Sensor 2 - Where are they located? Left or Right of engine. This involves the oxygen sensor.

If you know what side Number 1 is then that is bank 1 sensor 2 is behind converter. Here is a guide to help walk you through the steps of changing it with diagrams below to show you the location.

Incorrect air/fuel ratio, contaminates in fuel (water for example).

Any coolant will destroy O2 sensors.

And they do wear out.

Some newer cars use wideband O2 sensors, these give feedback to PCM much more quickly that standard sensors, they are, however, more exprensive.

Realize that just because you have a sensor error, does not mean the sensor is the cause, a contaminated MAF sensor, incorrect fuel pressure, cylinder misfires can also trigger O2 errors.

Engine Performance problem
2002 Jeep Liberty 6 cyl Four Wheel Drive Automatic 56000. Miles

My daughters jeep is giving a code PO153, can you please tell me which 02 sensor needs to be replaced? I believe it is bank 2 sensor 1 but not really sure about bank 1 and 2 sensor 1 and 2 it looks like it has 4sensors on it. Thanks theboss

P0153 Oxygen Sensor Circuit Slow Response (Bank 2 Sensor 1)

Here is how the Banks and Sensors go.

Bank 1 is on the Passenger Side (on Transverse Engines it the side against the firewall)

Bank 2 is the Drivers Side (on Transverse Engines it's at the front of vehicle)

Bank 1 Sensor 1 = Is in the Exhaust Manifold.

Bank 1 Sensor 2 = The next one back in same pipe

Bank 2 Sensor 1 = Is in the Exhaust Manifold

Bank 2 Sensor 2 = The Next one back in same pipe
