Hello, I am driving across the country from Pittsburgh to LA, and have stopped in Colorado to ski for the week. While in Colorado I started my car up in snow with my wheels turned, and proceeded to slip the front wheels thinking my four wheel drive would kick in, and I heard a deep heavy drop noise. The four wheel failed and I am wondering how bad this could be. I am ok with not having four wheel drive, but am concerned about any problems I may run into with something connecting the 4-wheel drive. What would the concerns be is I was to continue driving this car without fixing anything? I am taking it to get looked at, but don't know how quality of service I will get up in the middle of the mountains. I am not experiencing difficulty driving, turning, or braking. I do hear a sound that seems like something is loose and rotating around with the front right wheel. The sound does not get worse at higher speed, yet it sort of sounds like my brakes are rubbing, but the brakes aren't adding any addition friction other then when I apply them. I did get my car inspected three weeks ago, and had a few stabilizer links replaced, but not all of them. The check engine light does not come on. I do not smell anything, and cannot see anything below the car hanging.
