Hi, I brought my 2004 Honda Accord to Honda of Seattle for maintenance service. On paper they said they changed the transmission fluid. After bringing the car home I drove for 50 miles and then checked the trans fluid, it was brown just like before I bringing to them. Did they ever forget to change my fluid? Or there are something that I do not know about transmission service? Im new to car.
Thank you.

Modern cars when having the transmission serviced only have the pan dropped and filter and oil changed that is sitting in the pan, there is a quantity of oil sitting in the cooler lines, the oil cooler and the torque converter that will not drain out, so if this oil is dirty it will mix with the new oil and discolour it, you can get a power flush that removes all the oil, but this takes a lot more oil to do the job, and more expense, I would not be to concerned as I would expect that if there was a problem with the pan off you would have been informed and I feel that all you are seeing is some discolour caused by the trapped old oil. If you are concerned get a mechanic to take a look at the transmission pan, he will know if it has been removed recently.
