The oil light stays on unless accelerating or driving fast, and I have an oil leak around the oil pan. Started knocking/ticking mostly when the oil light is on, then today died on highway with oil light on, tried to turn over but wont, ignition just clicks now. The ticking/knocking is only when the oil light is on. Need to know if this can be fixed. If the oil pan gasket leak is causing the possible pressure drop, will fixing it reverse this prob, or do I need to scrap the car?

Not good, at this point there's not a lot you can do for your engine. Those tick and knock noises you are hearing are crucial part in your engine not getting enough oil. If it locked up on you like it sounds like there probably isn't any oil in it at all. You would easily be looking at around 2 grand t hoave someone rebuild it. To be honest you would be better off getting amother car and for your next one check your oil frequently, having good full oil is the most important part of protecting your car. If you ever see your oil light on add oil to the proper amount as soon as you can. Hope this helped sorry about your car

Thx for the reply. The oil level was always full, that's why I was figuring pressure leak or clogged pan screen.

No problem, yeah that could also be a possibility that sludge buildup is stopping it from picking up oil or even more likely that the oil pump is beginning to fail and its not delivering enough oil to the bearings. You are doing the right thing by always keeping it full. Take a look at the anti freeze if you haven't already and see if it looks discolored, it could be a pressure leak into the cooling system.
