2004 Chevy Cavalier V6 Two Wheel Drive Automatic 88000 miles

I have 2004 Chevy Cav 4 cyl had a major miss and found the coil pack to be bad, I replaced the coil pack and it solved the problem now 2 weeks later acting the same way, I did notice a lot of black soot on 2 of the cylinders what could cause the coil pack to goo bad that quickly?

Yes it is the same 2 that are missfiring--the codes are showing random misfire and show bad coil pack it is hard for me to believe that 2 coil packs going bad in 2 weeks don't know what would cause it

The parts were used a module came with it. But even so its hard for me to believe 2 coil packs going bad in the space of only 2 weeks I just thought maybe there was something causing the coils to go bad before I wasted more money on another coil pack

Unforutanetly it was bought at a junk yard--48 hr return only

I replaced coil and pack, plugs and wires on 98 cavalier. It still misfires so bad it dont want to start. At first I drove it while it was running hot and it started misfiring real bad. THat made it blow the head gasket and warp the head. I fixed that and it still misfired really bad.
I replaced coil and pack, plugs and wires. But it still misfires and it is getting spark.

Scan just says random misfire. Have not checked fuel pressure yet. Will do

Hello, Can a bad ignition coil cause a short in the ignition module. I replaced the Ignition Module before replacing the coil pack. I believe now that a bad coil pack caused the short in the module it self. Any help please. TY

Absolutely if the insulation burns off the windings then the resistance decreases allowing more amperage to flow through the coil which in turn causes more amps to flow through module causing heat and burning it out check the resistance of each coil both primary(the positive and ground connections) the secondary (primary to spark tower) and for a short to housing, coils burn out either from heat caused by bad placement by gm or because of high resistance through plug wire check resistance of plug wire about 2k ohms per foot is normal check plugs or if module is stuck in ground posistion it will burn out coil too make sure to use the lithium or silicone grease on the back of module to allow heat dissapation good luck and if you don't have the specs just measure all the coils and as long as resistance is like within ten percent you should be ok
