Air selector switch not working right. It turns but will not shift air to anything but front vents. Blows hot or cold air no problems. Temp control is fine and fan switch also works fine as well. Just the air directional selector dose not redirect air where selector is set and the air conditioner is not working.

Check to see if your mode actuator an d other actuators are getting vacuum when dialed to that position they are under dash see pic of mode actuator. also check for a vacuum leak start at engine.

Without putting a set of gauges on it to read the high and low side pressure readings, it would be a guess, more than likely it could just be low on charge.

I've had it charged, would being low o charge still have anything to do with the A/C coming on on defrost?

The compressor will run when in defrost mode, that is the way the system is suppose to operate. But like I said, I would have to know the pressure readings to properly help you diagnose your problem.

Sounds like you may have a vacuum leak, possible faulty vacuum hose on the controller behind your dash which open and close the door to direct the air flow.

How much freon did you put in. What does the low side read when it is running. Does the compressure cycle or does it stay engauged all the time when running.

You either have a leaking heater core or a mouse made a nest in your heater. Do you notice antifreeze on the ground?

Perhaps I noticed a little antifreeze - I also did notice
that when the air was turned on there was a little
smoke --- not smoke but like vapor for just a second.

When I turned on my defroster - it did not seem to work like it should -

Hi, the a/c on my 2000 chevy blazer is not working properly. It usually does not come on when I crank it up and sometimes will come on after I get going but shuts back off and on throughout the trip. I have replaced the clutch and it spins sometimes, what else could it be?
Where would the relays for the a/c be?

Have you had the freon checked? Low freon will cause the clutch to cycle in and out every few seconds or so.

Not exactly sure which one it is, but the relay is in the underhood power distribution box. There should be a diagram of the fuse and relay location on the inside top. You may also want to check the Cycling Switch. It is usually located on the Accumulator but can be located in the line somewere......

Here is what the Switch looks like....

I have a 2000 Chevy Blazer and while driving to work one morning, the air conditioner stopped working, the dash guages quit, no wipers, and I couldn't hear the engine cooling fan running. Any suggestions?
