Have you noticed any rotten egg smell or decrease in economy lately?Sounds like a possible clogged cat converter.

No sir, no rotten eggs and my daughter said MPGs seem to be ok. The RPM issue happened about two weeks ago and we discovered that the battery was bad so I replaced it and the car has run fine until today. She lost rpms on her way to work. I went and picked up her car a few hours later and it ran fine until I got it home and while I was checking it over it started acting up again.

It could be anything from a clogged cat to low fuel pressure and so many more things. Any check or service engine lights on?

Both of these codes are related to the same system. The very first thing that you do when you get these codes on this vehicle is check your oil level, the intake valve timing on this vehicle is controlled by oil pressure and is very sensitive. Everthing must be right with this vehicle. The oil must be full, it must be clean and it must be the correct viscosicity and style of oil. Is this car overdue for an oil change? Do you experience any spark knocking or detonation?
