2003 Mitsubishi Montero Engine swap

I have a 2003 Montero Limited 3.8L with 108,000 miles on it and a bad engine, needs rebuilt or replaced. The cost of rebuilding it is more than we can afford so I started looking for a low mile engine which is hard to find. Would the 3.8L Endeavor engine fit? I have found a 04 and a 07 with under 100K. Just looking for more options.

I strongly recommend that you stay with a direct fit engine, same year and size. When you change things, there are so many sensors that can be different that you end up with other problems. I have seen people get different year/make engines to run, but then the check engine light wouldn't go off and the car wouldn't pass emissions.
