2003 ford focus will start fine when cold. After driving 50 miles or so and making several stops/starts, the car will fail to start. Usually an hr driving and 5 or six errands, the 6th errand requires me to let the car sit 30 minutes, then starts fine. Now that I know the conditions, I try to avoid the situations, but the question is how do you fix it.

When it doesn't start, you need to check if you are getting spark and fuel to the engine. Our home page (DIY) explaines how. At that point you will know which component to start working on. Based on your description, I would say you are losing spark and the crank sensor is bad, but that is a guess without more information.
