The shocks on your vehicle are struts and require special tools to replace. The actual shock is inside the coil assembly. The coil needs to be carefully compressed to remove the shock. If it was to slip, literally, it could kill you if it was to strike you in the right place. This is a job I recommend having done by a shop that has the proper tools / equipment. Also, the if you are replacing the front struts, have the front end realigned after the work is complete.
