Engine light came on and had a few diagnostic codes come up at local auto parts store. P0740, P0700 and C0250 (speed sensor). I know what the codes could mean, and appears the P0740 typically turns out to be caused by the TCC Solenoid pack or Torque Converter. I do not have a transmission leak and actually, as a first step changed the fluid and filter. I was under the impression if the TCC solenoid was bad the transmission would be leaking. The fluid looked pretty good, not burnt and there were very few fine metal slivers (almost like whiskers) on the pan magnet, so thinking I can rule out the torque converter. The car shifts with no issue, except every now and then if for instance making a left turn to go up a hill, there may be a slight hiccup or jerk, but this has been going on since I got the van in 2008. I have read that the Speed Sensor could cause the transmission to have issues, but can't find anywhere that this could result in a P0740 code. I guess I am looking for advice on the next thing to try. Speed Sensor? I really would like to avoid pulling the transmission, and the vehicle is really not worth a rebuild. Thanks in advance for the help!

Tcc means torque converter clutch so it may not be applying and converter would need to be replaced have a trans guy look at it. Save your self aggravation and money

Is there any possible way it could be speed sensor related based on everything else I noted? I don't think taking it to a transmission shop would be considered "saving me money" :)

I don't know where you got the 250 code from as there isn't one. The 700 code means that the tcm has picked up another code and the 740 code is either a wiring issue or an internal problem like the converter clutch is shot if the tcc is working ok. If y ou are absolutel y sure there is not a wiring issue then remove the code, drive at 50 mph then let off gas if the tcc does not engage take to a trans shop because there is an internal problem with trans.
