The ECM is the transfer switch on this one. Is this a Duramax, or gasoline pickup? They are different systems that operate among the same principle.

The gas variation has two fuel pump modules, with two senders that are wired to the engine control module. There is no transfer of fuel. If it were a Diesel, it would have a transfer pump mounted to the frame rail. I would suspect you have a faulty fuel pump in one of the modules.

When th fuel guage read 1/2 both tanks would take about the same amount of fuel when filled up. Now the fuel guage stays on full and one tank could take 30 gals and the other one would take less than 1 gal. When you say fuel pump module I aasume you are reffering to the sending unit assy in the top of the tank. Is this correct?
