I purchased this vehicle from my brother-in-law who always had the car serviced on schedule at Acura dealer where he purchased it. At 100,000 miles he had the timing gear and chain replaced at a cost of approximately $1,000.00. In 7,000 miles the car will reach 200,000 miles. Will I need to replace these items again and if so is $1,000.00 a bit high for this type service. I believe Acura had this problem for a number of years but at some point corrected the problem so these items don't have to be changed out at the 100,000 mileage anniversaries?

The timing belt does need replacement as well as some other items being inspected at that mileage. Some things to get looked at would be the front suspension such as ball joints, CV axles and the brake system. I am attaching two pics, one is an estimate for the timing belt which is under $700 and the other is a list of the suggested maintenance items at that mileage. You will find that an Acura dealer will charge more than this quote but you can count on the parts being genuine Honda/Acura parts which is pretty important. Getting good aftermarket parts is hard to do and I would suggest making sure that wherever you go get the shop to use Honda parts.
Good luck and you have a car worth keeping. Hondas/Acuras are simply the best built cars that you can get. You can probably get another 100K out of it but you will probably have to put some money into the front suspension and brakes eventually.
