Why is my engine knocking?

Changed my Oil/Filter and plugs in my 2002 Grand AM SE 4 Cyl. 2.2 and now my engine is Knocking. Why is this?

Tim, are you sure the plug wires are on the correct plugs? Also, is the oil light on?

Yes, there is only one way for the plugs/plug wires to go in. Yes the Oil light is on which I found odd as well. If you lay your hand on the intake, you can feel the knock.

If the light is on, the oil pressure is extremely low and causing the noise. It may have damaged a rod or main bearing at this point. To confirm oil pressure, rent a mechanical gauge at a parts store. It will screw into where the electric oil sending unit is located. From that you will know how much pressure you really have. As for what caused it, make sure the oil filter you have is correct.
