I recently had my bank one catalytic converter replaced. The engine check light has not come back. BUT, the car will not pass emissions testing because two monitors are still not ready/reset.

The emissions test shows that the "Catalytic" and "Evaporative Emissions" monitors are "Not Ready".

My mechanic did clear all codes after replacing the converter. Also, I have driven the car over 600 miles, a combination of highway and city driving for about a week and a half. HELP!

One concern:
My car is located in GA. However the emissions sticker under the hood, says the car meets California emissions standards. Three separate mechanics I checked with, agreed that a replacement converter which meets Federal standards would be sufficient, (and less expensive) since I would not be driving my car in CA or NY. So, we installed a Federal rated converter. Could that change be the reason my computers are not reading the converter yet?

What you will have to do is get the emissions checked on a 5 gas or better analyser, this will give the tech exact emission readings for the critical gasses, with this reading they will be able to determine if the cat is working correctly or there is another problem.

Thank you very much.

Please advise if there are certain places which would have the analyzer you described. I will also ask around at emissions specialists and dealerships.

Thanks again.

I can't advise on a workshop to go to as I am in Australia, phone around and ask a few questions, many larger private work shops will have this equipment.
