I have a 2002 Honda Civic that is right around 193,000 miles. I live in New Hampshire and got a seasonal job in Texas for three months. I would like to drive out there rather than take a plane, but I am worried my car won't be able to handle the trip. Google maps tells me the trip is about 2000 miles one way. I was thinking I could space this out over 6 or 7 days, so I never go more than 400 miles in a day. (In an attempt to cause less stress on my car) Then I will be in Texas for three months, using my just with casual use, and then will make my way back to NH.
Do you think my car will make it through the trip fine? I know most cars are questionable once they get close to 200,000 miles, but I also know that Civics are notorious for lasting a long time. Would this be a stupid trip, or do you think my car would be alright? I honestly wouldn't mind if I had to shell out up to a grand at some point.
Any tips, thoughts, etc would be appreciated.
