2002 GMC Yukon wont start

2002 GMC Yukon mileage: 69,000. I have a problem with my starting my Yukon. I checked the connections and they are fine. The battery is new and is being recharged. When I turn the ignition there is initially a clicking sound. After the click/pop occurs for one to two seconds the starter gradually builds to the speed to start the engine. In spite of the miles the engine is very strong. Can you help me? Thanks in advance.

Here are some things to check. Load test the battery. Check that the battery cable connections are clean. Check for 12 volts to starter solenoid with the key in the start position. These things should be checked first then the ignition switch, starter and starter solenoid. One of these may be faulty.
