rattling noise

i have an 02 ford taurus. the battery light came on and i was hearing a rattling noise coming from under the hood. i took it to a mechanic and I was told that i needed to replace the alternator because it was not charging the battery properly. I had the alternator replaced and the battery light went off but I still can hear the noise. Please advise...

This rattling noise could be a lot of things. Most of the time is has to do with the pulleys on the front of the motor, but there are lots of other things. They should have been able to tell when they replaced the alternator.
